WhatsApp price inquiry templates for general merchandise suppliers
General merchandise pricing is a speed game played at two decimal places. The buyer is pricing a container of unrelated items against three other suppliers, and whoever answers accurately first usually wins the line. What loses money isn't the discount — it's the rep who quotes from memory, or takes two days to check.
Part of: General merchandise →Answer fast, with the full spec
[Item] — [price] per piece at [qty]/carton, carton [dimensions], [weight]. That's FOB [port]. Anything else on your list I can check while I'm in it? Send the whole list and I'll come back with pricing on all of them in one message.
Why it works: Offering to price the whole list in one reply is the single biggest lever in this trade — it saves the buyer from chasing you item by item, and quietly makes you the supplier they build the container around.
Hold the cents with carton math
I know [competitor price] sounds better, [name], but check the carton: ours is [qty]/carton at [dimensions] versus their [qty]. Per container you fit [X] more pieces, which drops your landed cost per piece to [amount] — below theirs. Want me to run the container math on your full list?
Why it works: In general merchandise the sticker price is rarely the real cost — carton efficiency is. Shifting the comparison to landed cost per piece is how you win on a number that looks worse.
Quote the tier they'll actually reach
At [qty] it's [price], [name] — but you're only [qty] away from [price] at the next break. Across the [X] items on your list, that gap is worth [amount] to you. Want me to show which items are closest to the next tier so you can top up the container?
Why it works: Showing a buyer which items are closest to the next price break turns your quote into the tool they use to fill the container — and the container gets filled with your goods, not someone else's.
